Growing up watching a lot of Japanese shows, I relished the opportunity to create a sports team identity based around the legendary Shinobi.
The logo is a play on the steel industry that Sheffield was known for, but with a Japanese twist. I originally sketched various different ninja weapons but eventually landed on the shuriken (ninja star). I also liked the idea of having a really dark uniform with a bright pop of red, much like how Shinobi are depicted in popular culture. The text worked nicely around the shuriken, with the red "motion blur" effect working nicely as a background for "Sheffield" to sit in.
Helmet Decal Stickers -
The shuriken or "ninja star" from the main logo will be used as a helmet sticker. I tried to get a real feeling of movement into it, as if the star is spinning. Hopefully it might intimidate opponents if they see it coming towards them.
Alternative layouts and colour ways -
A horizontal layout for when vertical space is limited.
Single colour versions of the main logo for use in limited colour printing or embroidery
The 'S' on it's own or on top of the shuriken can also be used an emblem or icon, but the shuriken logo on it's own as above is preferred.
