MJB Electrical are a Gibraltar based electrical company who required a complete brand refresh, including a logo and colour palette.
The logo needed to be fresh, sleek and modern, whilst also attempting to steer clear of the usual electrical company logo tropes like plugs and bolts of electricity.
Initial concepts -
Many different ideas were explored with the client, with the eventual logo design actually a further development from the first concept I came up with. Below you will find four different directions which made it through the first couple of rounds of feedback with the client.
Further tweaks -
This logo followed a very iterative approach, with multiple rounds of feedback from the client over Zoom, the letterforms were moulded gradually with feedback from the client. One example being that the 'M' and 'J' both had much more character than the 'B', so I began exploring how to give this letter more life.
Finishing flourishes -
With a final direction for the logo chosen, it was time to think about the relationship between the letterforms and the typography below them. Below you can see a number of different approaches to this, again, the first option was funnily enough the one that was chosen by the client.
Brand pack -
In addition to designing various variants of their new logo, I also created a short brand pack for the brand, which includes; logo usage guides for each logo variant, typography guide, a limited brand colour palette and mock-ups of the logo in situ on uniforms, vans etc.
